Freddie
Mac reports that rates on fixed
mortgages again fell to their lowest levels in decades this past week, with
the average interest on 15-year loans dipping to 3.57 percent from 3.63 percent
a week earlier, and the average interest for 30-year loans sliding to 4.17
percent from 4.24 percent. That is the lowest since 1971.
The above outstanding news for borrowers for real estate purchases is from the
REALTOR Magazine November 12, 2010.

Early, very early, this last Saturday morning our Realtors gathered along Queen Kaahumanu
Highway to pick up roadside trash and have a sweating good time. You would not believe some of the items we
found, some too trashy to mention here.
Undaunted, we will continue our efforts for such a worthy cause and are planning how our
garbage collection experience might be even better next time. Several suggestions have been made to make
this activity even more fun:
Schedule root canal work on the same
day as the outing.**
Do it at night.
Do it in the nude—“It’s too hot with
the T-shirt on.”
Stock a bar car with blended frozen
daiquiris patrolling our stretch of the highway.
(Amazingly, there are several volunteers for #4.)
Set-up roadside massage tent.
Carry cell phone to call aid car
and/or bar car!
** Requires a note from a dentist to be excused
from getting trashy and sweaty.
Here are a few photos of our crew. Do you recognize
any of these sweaty garbage collectors?

When out and about beautiful Kona, people ask me “how’s real estate?” Real estate is great is my answer.
The president of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) recently commented about the opportunities in our
current market. She (hoorah!) says: “A decade ago, mortgage rates were almost double what they are today,
and they’re about one-and-a-half percentage points lower than the peak of the housing boom in 2005,”
Ms. Golder said. “In addition, home prices are running about 22 percent less than five years ago
when they were bid up by the biggest housing rush on record.” Thanks to realtor.org for this article and
its valuable industry updates.
